We say goodbye and thankyou to 2017 and welcome 2018 with clear eyes and an open mind. Now is a great time to reflect on 2017 and what it brought us, lessons we have learnt and changes we might like to make for the coming year.
For me, 2017 was a huge year, full of emotional ups and downs and new beginnings so I am looking forward to letting go of some things and accepting 2018 as a year for me to grow and reach my goals.
Now, I thought I would write this blog to help some of you begin 2018 with a loving and grateful heart.
GRATITUDE LISTS I talk about these a lot but it is so important to write gratitude lists to bring your mind back to a place of love and kindness. Grab a pen and a fresh notebook and start writing a list of things that you are grateful for, bring you joy and make you happy. Whether that be chocolate (...I have honestly written this on my gratitude list), your friends/family, your dog, the moon, flowers, clean water, your favourite pair of shoes. The list is honestly endless, I'm sure you'll be surprised with how long your list is and the kinds of things you are grateful for.
GOAL SETTING The beginning of a new year is a great time to set new goals or reassess old ones. Try to set realistic, achievable goals in all aspects of your life. Work/business goals, financial goals, relationship goals, health goals, travel goals, whatever you have an interest in really. Make sure they are time specific, for example, I want to have finished reading this book by March, or by the end of the year, I want to have travelled to 5 new places. Set some short term goals that you really want to achieve and then maybe think of some longer goals that last over a year or a few years. It's really amazing what your mind can do when to put pen to paper see everything you want written down in front of you. Make sure the goals are ACHIEVABLE, you need to actually be able to cross them off your list when the time is right and then set new ones to get to where you want to be.
CLEAR OUT YOUR SPACE De-clutter your office, house, apartment or whatever space you call your own. This is very therapeutic and helps clear our old thoughts or energies that no longer serve you. Add a nice plant, photo or crystal to help bring new ideas and new energy into your lovely space.
GET YOUR HEALTH BACK ON TRACK Often we forget about our own health, we are so busy with work, family or other interests that we neglect looking after ourselves. But to reach our goals, look after our family and excel in our careers, we need to be looking after ourselves and often putting ourselves first is the best thing we can do. Exercising and eating healthy are two of the best things we can do for our health. Alternative medicine and techniques are also great at helping restore your mind and body. Meditation is a great way to help our mental health, learning to let go of our thoughts is amazing to help reduce stress and anxiety and increase motivation and productivity. Acupuncture is incredible at helping to bring the body back to homeostasis, including the mind and the body as one.
